Gwylfa Hiraethog sits high on the Denbigh Moors and was once a hunting lodge for its rich owner. The house is now completely ruined. It pains me to say this, but it is completely beyond repair. A few walls remain, but largely the house has completely collapsed in on itself. A few fragments of dressed stone lie dotted around the site. My visit was on a sunny day, the views were outstanding; two fighter jets practiced over head. Before leaving I sat and took in the beauty of the remote location. What a shame some consolidation work had not been done to the walls which would have allowed Gwylfa Hiraethog to have been kept as a controlled ruin. It is a landmark on these empty moors that in a few years will be nothing more than a pile of rubble.
